TheQuickHour.com Features Yung J
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN RAPPING?
Yung J: I been rapping since i was about 14.
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START RAPPING?
Yung J: Listening to the Swishahouse, got me to just messing off, free-styling. Everybody was liking it, so i started to put in more effort.
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: HOW DID YOU GET THE NAME YUNG J?
Yung J: My homies in the hood gave me that name. I was Playboi Cobi. I dropped a freestyle one night for the hood and accidently said Yung J. They was loving it, so it stuck.
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: HOW DO YOU VIEW YOURSELF AS AN ARTIST?
Yung J: I view myself as a real life artist. You know what i mean? A lot of artists these days like to paint pictures in their raps of things they have never done, seen, or even heard of. That’s not me. If I cant back it up 100 percent, I’m not gon speak on it. Point blank.
TheQuickHour.com: I can feel that. It’s definitely a lot of falsifying going on to quote Paul and Cham, two Swishahouse greats.
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: HOW WOULD YOU GRADE YOUR WORK ETHIC; HOW OFTEN ARE YOU WRITING OR IN THE STUDIO?
Yung J: At the moment I give myself a bad grade, I been slipping a bit. But when I’m in grind mode, Im a 5 star caliber!
TheQuickHour.com: Gotta maintain a consistent level with your work. That’s the only way the people will follow you and respect your grind. Point blank, to quote you earlier.
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: HOW FUN IS IT FOR YOU TO WORK AT YOUR CRAFT?
-Yung J: I love taking what’s in my heart, putting it on paper, and then into my fans’ ears. Nothing makes me happier than hearing myself coming out somebody’s speakers
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE TO DO TO GET MORE ATTENTION AMONG POTENTIAL SOUTHERN FANS; WHAT MORE CAN YOU DO TO INCREASE YOUR FAN BASE?
Yung J: I need to be seen by the public’s eye. Do some shows, throw some parties, and just hangout. Once my face become’s known in the public, Im in there like swimwear.
TheQuickHour.com: Ha, I feel ya bruh.
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: WHAT DO YOU HAVE COMING UP; WHAT NEW STUFF ARE YOU WORKING ON?
Yung J: Right now, my second mixtape “Mixtape Muzik” is printed up and ready to be released early this summer. My first all original mixtape “Tha Champ” getting finalized also. It may drop late summer or early fall. My fourth mixtape “Shipping and Receiving” is halfway done. I’ll be looking for that to drop around the 1st of the year next year.
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: WHAT CURRENT ARTISTS INSPIRE YOUR WORK?
Yung J: Chamillionaire, Webbie, Project Pat, Yo Gotti
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: IS THERE ANY ARTIST OUT RIGHT NOW THAT YUNG J RESEMBLES IN STYLE?
Yung J: A lot people say I got that boldness and story telling ability that Project Pat has. Some people say some of what I say sound like something that Chamillionaire would say. I think im just a real nigga, so whoever sounds like that i guess.
TheQuickHour.com: I feel ya. The one thing I’ll tell you is never try to copy anybody. Be yourself. Modeling your style after an established artist will get you laughed at quicker than it will get you heard. Just my opinion.

TheQuickHour.com Features Lit’ Codie
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN RAPPING?
Lit Codie: I been rapping since I was 14.
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START RAPPING?
Lit Codie: I never thought about rapping until I got this phone call from my home-boy one day. He hit me up like mane you ever thought about rapping? I was like no I’m not into all of that. He was like well come over to the studio a let me show you a lit something. I sat down looked and listened to him record. I felt the beat so much that I was in there bobbin my head like yea this young n@__ go hard but then again I’m thinking like Imma young n@__ just like him that can go even harder! I wrote a verse and crushed it. Ever since then dude been calling me about a track occasionally!
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: WHY THE NAME LIT’ CODIE; IS THIS PERMANENT?
Lit Codie: Lit Codie is my nickname so I turned it into my rap name, but then I got cold in the game and switched it up to Koala!
TheQuickHour.com: Okay, okay. I don’t know about DJ Quick but I like it.
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: HOW DO YOU VIEW YOURSELF AS AN ARTIST?
I feel I’m on another level like u can’t compare me to the majors but you can definitely compare me to the minors! Like I’m in the minor league trying to make it to the major league. It just feels like I’m the next up and I been getting some very important phone calls and I’m connected worldwide.
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: HOW WOULD YOU GRADE YOUR WORK ETHIC; HOW OFTEN ARE YOU WRITING OR IN THE STUDIO?
Lit Codie: I give myself an A+, because when I’m in the studio you cant really talk to me because I’m too busy trying to go harder than the next n@__ in the studio on a verse. When I’m in there by myself I cut the phones up to the max and get in my zone, if you was to see me you’ll really think I’m retarded cause I’m in there excited and pumped up like I never rapped before!
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: HOW FUN IS IT FOR YOU TO WORK AT YOUR CRAFT?
Lit Codie: Rapping is fun, especially when you have a lot of people rapping with you. It puts more pressure on you like, who gone go the hardest? I just know I’m going hard when I got n_@_ in the studio listening to my verse falling all on the floor and saying I’m wrong for saying what I said!
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE TO DO TO GET MORE ATTENTION AMONG POTENTIAL SOUTHERN FANS; WHAT MORE CAN YOU DO TO INCREASE YOUR FAN BASE?
Lit Codie: First of all everybody don’t like gangsta music. So when I’m in the lab I switch it up every now and then. I know I got to have female fans but I don’t really worry about male fans. I make gangsta songs for my n@__ to ride to and I make slow songs and dance songs for the females to vibe to you know! I have a lot of fans but I just got to keep working hard to get many more.

-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: WHAT DO YOU HAVE COMING UP; WHAT NEW STUFF ARE YOU WORKING ON?
Lit Codie: I got a show at a carwash in Shreveport coming up and a show in Cali coming up also. I’m working on my next album called “4 What Its Worth” at the moment. Trying hard to get a deal so I can drop that one in stores. A lot of people ask why I named it that. Everything I do I do it 4 What Its Worth.
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: I KNOW YOU RECENTLY HAD SOME RADIO PLAY. HOW DID THAT FEEL FOR YOU; HOW BIG WAS THAT FOR YOU CONFIDENCE?
Lit Codie: I was excited at first, but then I thought about getting to happy could cost you! Big time! So I stayed calm about it and kept my eyes ahead of me.
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: WHAT CURRENT ARTISTS INSPIRE YOUR WORK?
Lit Codie: Yung Berg called up and said that he liked my music, I’m still waiting for a call back from him. Young Dose (Mr. Don Dadda) said that he liked my music and to keep my head up and he could see me and him in the future running into each other in the music business. Waka Flocka Flame’s producer Tay Beats called up my auntie and was like that young n@__ hot how can I get him down to the A? I told him wait until I graduate and I’ll be headed down that road.
TheQuickHour.com: Those are some big names…keep it up.
-THEQUICKHOUR.COM: IS THERE ANY ARTIST OUT RIGHT NOW THAT LIT’ CODIE RESEMBLES IN STYLE?
Lit Codie: Everybody tells me I’m different. Different voice, different ad-libs, different style, different swag, different everything. You can’t compare me to nobody but myself!
TheQuickHour.com: We like that here at The Quick Hour Show.
